Neurologic Pain Care

Care for neurologic conditions.

Whether your patient suffers from diabetic neuropathy, peripheral neuropathy, neuralgia, MS or cerebral palsy or has suffered a stroke, the multidisciplinary pain management team at Pain Consultants of West Florida can help. We routinely treat these conditions and work closely with western Florida’s top neurologists and neurosurgeons with the common goal of helping their patients.

Challenging conditions, multiple treatments.

The treatment of neuropathic pain is challenging thanks to the multiple etiologies, symptoms and underlying causes. Neuropathic pain encompasses a variety of painful disease states that are often hard to treat with a single medication or modality. There is no “gold standard” treatment because neuropathic pain manifests so differently in different patients.

Aside from pharmacologic treatment with antidepressants and anticonvulsants, our multidisciplinary pain management team uses hands-on physical therapy and physical therapy modalities to reduce your patient’s pain and restore their function. Clinically proven hands-on therapy techniques such as soft-tissue mobilization are often more effective at relieving pain and restoring function. We can often reduce or eliminate the patient’s need for pharmacologic treatments.

Our physical therapists use a variety of modalities to treat neuropathic pain and dysfunction. We employ heat, ice, TENS, iontophoresis,  ultrasound and prescriptive therapeutic exercise, among others, depending on the patient’s individual needs and responses to treatment.

Efficiency through comprehensive care.

We can treat pain associated with many neurologic conditions. In some cases, our comprehensive care eliminates the need for your patients to see multiple specialists. We offer in-house physical therapy, rehabilitation and massage therapy. By offering these and other services under one roof, we can make the whole process more efficient for you and your patients.
